This poll is to determine if we should allow for demoted minors over minor limits to remain in minors after promotion to majors and also healthy players that have been left in DL spots. If changing the rules wins, then we will determine if penalties we be used and what they are and also what is the grace period allowed to remove ineligible players from spots.

Fantrax has this functionality as well as the ability to customize the Minor League eligibility parameters so much of the policing could be done by the league site if we moved to Fantrax....I am not a big fan of the CBS changes personally and I have been commishing leagues on CBS' platform for over 20 years. They never seem to add any hard coded feature functionality, only making it look prettier while making it run slower....I know this discussion was taking place on the other proboards site but could this change some owners thinking?

I forgot about fantrax vote, I actually voted to stay on cbs, but may change my vote if poll still open, partially based on this info from Jim, but also noticed fantrax is more up to date with minors.

I'm torn. The problem I see in leaving things as they are is that opens up teams to manipulate they system. If I am battling for 1st place (don't laugh, it could happen) and I have a guy coming off the DL in the majors but I don't want to cut him (maybe due to salary implications) and yet the guy I picked up to replace him is doing great but cutting him may allow the guy I'm competing for first against to pick him up since maybe it is a weak spot in his lineup, then why would I even think about taking my guy off the DL? I'd be crazy to do so. Now I know this is not going to be a normal situation, but it is not out of the realm of possibility
At the same time, I hate to put additional work on someone to police this. Maybe we can leave it up to the owners at large to police it. I normally keep an eye on the lineup of the team I'm playing, so why not leave it to the owners to report to a commissioner when they see a violation. The commish could then give the offending team a day to make a roster adjustment, at which time, if not made, the commish may go in and drop the player that was picked up when the original player went on the dl. This solves the problem of having to be concerned of how far back the violation happened, since the onus was on previous owners to catch the problem.
Does all that make sense? I think I just talked myself into how to vote for this one.

I see your point Charleston, but I don't think that leaving a guy on the DL that is not on the DL in real life should ever be an option. Cutting a guy is just one of those decisions you should have to make.

I do think there should be a day or 2 grace period however.

I think we are in agreement here Cleveland. Maybe my long-winded comment was a bit confusing. Or maybe I should have stayed away from the glass of wine before responding. But in any case, I agree and voted to police ourselves which would (hopefully) force teams to move people from the DL when they were no longer on it.
